"Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-" is a New Start for the Series

Series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari on the newest addition to the GG franchise

Last weekend, Arc System Works got to show off its upcoming fighter Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- at a location test in Akihabara, and series creator/artist/composer/voice of main character Sol Badguy Daisuke Ishiwatari talked about some of his plans for the game.

According to Ishiwatari, ASW wants to use GGXrd as a "fresh start" for the franchise, hoping to broaden their audience and bring newcomers to the fold, while still keeping what made Guilty Gear so popular in the first place. Ishiwatari and series planner Pachi also talked about GGXrd's Roman Cancel system, saying that the system has been changed so that you can Roman Cancel at any time, and can slow down parts of the battle. We have yet to see how this works in action, but Pachi also continued, stating that the new Roman Cancel system is still in development.

In addition to the standard GG button setup for those familiar with the series, there will also be button configurations for players more comfortable with BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena, the other two big fighters from ASW. When asked about new characters, Ishiwatari gave a teasing "I wonder?"

Personally, I can't wait for Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, but what about you? What kind of new characters do you think we'll be seeing in this series' return?
