"The Wolverine" Writer Working on "Assassin's Creed" Film Rewrite

Hollywood adaptation is currently set to hit theaters in 2015

The Assassin's Creed film script, first penned by British playwright Michael Lesslie, is now being passed off to another screenwriter. Scott Frank—the writer behind The Wolverine, Minority Report, and Marley & Me—is taking a stab at a rewrite for the film, which is currently scheduled to arrive on June 19, 2015.

While talking with Creative Screenwriting, Frank said, "I'm rewriting Assassin's Creed right now, and what I love about it is that I've never adapted a video game before and it has its own set of challenges.

"Especially in the world of rewrites, I love trying to do something completely different if I can. That's how Marley & Me happened."

Hopefully he can work some magic on the script. As previously reported, Assassin's Creed will feature Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Prometheus) in the starring role.
