"Dark Souls II" Closed Beta Launches on October 5

Players can start signing up on September 5

Namco Bandai wants to give Dark Souls fans an early taste of Dark Souls II, so the publisher is planning a closed beta test that's set to kick off on October 5 in North America and Europe.

The beta—which will be available on PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network—promises to send players into "one of the most treacherous areas of the Dark Souls II world." This entirely new area boasts overwhelming enemy encounters, diabolical challenges, and developer FromSoftware's famous level of difficulty.

More information about signing up will be available on the Dark Souls Facebook page starting September 5, so keep an eye on that if you're bold enough to die repeatedly. The full version of Dark Souls II hits PS3, Xbox 360, and PC next March.
