Toei's anime trilogy adaptation of manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka's interpretation of the life of Gautama Buddha continues in February 2014 with Death Note's Kenichi Matsuyama joining the cast as the adult version of Tezuka's original character, Tatta a Pariah who, as a child had a special connection with nature and ability to commune with animals, that he loses as he ages into a violent bandit.
Hidetaka Yoshioka (The Place Promised in Our Early Days) is Siddartha, and Nana Mizuki is back as Migaila, another original character.
The prolific Reiko Yoshia (K-on!, Girls und Panzer) is back on the scripts, but Toshiaki Komura (Precure, Ultimate Muscle) replaces Kozo Morishita as director on Buddha 2: Tezuka Osamu no Buddha ~Owarinaki Tabi~.
