VIDEO: Takashi Miike Adapts Crime Manga "Mogura no Uta"

Toma Ikuta plays rule breaking cop who goes under cover in dangerous mafia group

Prolific director Takashi Miike (remake 13 Assassins, manga based Ichi the Killer, anime based Yatterman) is back with another manga adaptation. Having turned 70's manga Ai to makoto into last year's bizarre dance musical, he's now adapting Noboru Takahashi's long running seinen crime manga Mogura no Uta (Mole's Song).

The 35+ volume series follows a rule breaking cop with an unshakable sense of justice who takes a mission to go undercover in a dangerous yakuza group.

Toma Ikuta plays lead Reiji Kikukawa, with a cast that also includes Shinichi Tsutsumi as Akogi-gumi lieutenant Masaya Hiura (aka “Crazy Papillion”), Mitsuru Fukikoshi as police chief Toshio Sakami, Ren Osugi as Akogi-gumi boss Masayoshi Ako, Takayuki Yamada as Akogi-gumi member Shun Tsukihara, Takashi Okamura as Issei Nekozawa, Yusuke Kamiji as hitman Kuroken, and Riisa Naka as female cop Junna Wakaki.

The movie hits Japanese theaters February 15, 2014.
