Hopefully Pokémon X and Pokémon Y end up leaving you hungry enough for more, because The Pokémon Company have something else up there sleeve, and this time they'll be putting the spotlight back on Pikachu.
In addition to summing up the popularity and success of Nintendo's monster-collectin' franchise, a recent producer's summary on NHK came with the reveal of a new game in development. According to Tsunekazu Ishihara—Pokémon producer and CEO of The Pokémon Company—the game will feature Pikachu, and development kicked off this summer.
Ishihara says the Pikachu-centric game will include a boy who takes on the world using "playfulness" as a weapon. Despite Pikachu seeming like a recipe for success, Ishihara is concerned that doing a poor job with this game will damage the beloved character's popularity. We'll see how they handle it once we learn more about this upcoming Pikachu game.
