Get a Sneaky Peek at Nintendo's Pikachu-Centric "Pokémon" Game

NHK show offers a glimpse of "top secret" game in development

It wasn't too long ago that we first got wind of a new Pokémon game in the works, this time focusing on everyone's favorite electric rodent, Pikachu. While there isn't much new info to share, some rough footage was shown in a preview for a show on Japanese TV network NHK, with the full episode to air on October 28.

Tsunekazu Ishihara—Pokémon producer and Pokémon Company CEO—appears on the "Professional—Style of Work" program to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the game, which is said to use "playfulness" as a weapon.

The preview clip can be seen here. In addition to discussing the success of the Pokémon franchise, a few quick snippets of the "top secret" Pikachu-centric game can be seen in development. Pikachu lets out a hearty "Pika!" as someone appears to inspect it with a magnifying glass, and a bit of motion capture work is shown for Pikachu's expressions.

Hopefully we'll learn more about the game when the full special airs.
