"Pokemon" Become Hanafuda Playing Cards Thanks To Nintendo

Japanese traditional playing cards get cute makeover

Hanafuda playing cards are sometimes used in anime, such as in Summer Wars and the traditional Japanese playing cards have received a whole new makeover with Pokemon! The new Pokemon Hanafuda cards have been created by the experts at Nintendo, which started as a Hanafuda card maker before they became famous with video games in the 1970's and 80's.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The new Pokemon Hanafuda cards will be on sale starting November 29th for 2625 yen. Pre-orders are already open at Amazon Japan . The special framed version is available for 15855 yen and a special site will open later this month with more details.

 

 

Hanafuda is literally translated as "Flower cards" with 48 cards and beautiful illustrations of seasonal flowers with distinguishable use of vivid colors.(image above from Sekai Yugi)
