VIDEO: Studio Ghibli's "Princess Kaguya" Previewed

Co-founder Isao Takahata's first movie in 14 years scheduled for November 23rd

Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata explored distinctive visual techniques for his last movie, watercolor style adaptation of family comic strip My Neighbors the Yamadas. 14 years later, he has again tried something different with the emakimono picture scroll inspired retelling of the legend of Princess Kaguya.

Originally intended to open on July 20th to coincide with Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind is Rising, Takahata's  Kaguya-hime no Monogatari, was delayed to November 23rd.

As with recent Miyazaki movies, the cast is largely live-action performers, including drama actress Aki Asakura as the lead, the late, prolific Takeo Chii as Okina and Japanese Academy Award-winner Nobuko Miyamoto as Ouna.
