"Wake Up, Girls!" TV Anime and Film will Debut on Same Day, January 10, 2014

Both directed by Yutaka Yamamoto (Lucky Star, Kannagi, Fractale)

The official site for the Wake Up, Girls! anime project revealed yesterday that the TV anime series will premiere on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, TV Osaka, Sendai Housou, and AT-X on January 10, 2014. Not only that, the feature film titled Wake Up, Girls!: The Seven Idols will hit Japanese theaters on the same day.

The seven voice actresses who play the main idol group were chosen from 2,000 participants in the audition. They will make their debut as a real idol group also named "Wake Up, Girls!" at the same time and release their debut single "Tachiagare!" (Stand Up!) as the theme song for the film. The story of the film has not been revealed yet, but it is assumed to be the prequel or spin-off of the TV anime's story. Both TV anime and film are directed by Yutaka Yamamoto (Lucky Star, Kannagi, Fractale), and produced by Ordet (Black Rock Shooter, Senyu) and Tatsunoko Production (Gatchaman Crowds).
