"One Piece" Newspaper Campaign Sails Overseas With "New York Times" and "China Daily" Ads

Sanoku ThanX campaign goes international after "Across Japan! OPJ47 Cruise"

One Piece's "Across Japan! OPJ47 Cruise" ran through Japan's 47 prefectures as part of the Sanoku ThanX, celebrating 300 million print copies of the manga, with characters from the series edited into special newspapers ads reflecting local geography, specialty or cultural heritage of each region.

Series hero Luffy didn't appear in any, and that turns out to be because he was saved for full page, Eiichiro Oda illustrated, color ads taken out in today's New York Times and China Daily.
