Mature Tokusatsu Series "Garo" Inspires Anime

Slate of projects also include mini series, TV series and movie

Most tokusatsu (special effects) series feature Japanese superheroes in brightly colored outfits duking it out for dominance of your sunny weekend mornings. Garo—which originally aired for 25 episodes on TV Tokyo from 2005-2006—was different. Decidedly more "adult," the late-night series is rolling on with a slate of new projects including an anime spin-off.

Zero: Black Blood starring the Silver Fanged Knight (Ray Fujita) will run for six episodes starting in March 2014.

TV series Garo: Makai No Hana, featuring Raiga; the son of Kouga, the original Golden Knight, is slated for April.

Attack on Titan's Yasuko Kobayashi will be writing an original anime series that continues the Zero line.

Ryuga will be returning in a movie now being developed.
