VIDEO: Japanese Comedian Writes New Gundam Novel "Blazing Shadow"

35-year-old Toshiyuki Itakura is a member of the comedy duo “Impulse” and has been known as a deep Gundam otaku. He also has written two hardboiled novels as a novelist; "Trigger" in 2009 and "Arijigoku" (doodlebug) in 2012. His 3rd novel is finally based on the Mobile Suit Gundam world, which is titled "Mobile Suit Gundam: Blazing Shadow" and has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Gundam-themed monthly magazine Gundam Ace since the July 2013 issue published in May. Kodokawa Shoten released the 1st volume of his Gundam novel on November 26. Haruhiko Mikimoto, best known as his design works for The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, Gunbuster, designs the characters and Kyoshi Takigawa (Mobile Suit Gundam Z Define) serves as the mecha designer.

 

The story sets at the Side 7 colony after The One Year War between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth

Federation ended. The protagonist character Cain Ragnard's parents were killed by Zion's mobile suit Zaku II

during the war. For the vengeance of his parents, Cain joins the Earth Federation's special force "Shadows"

to hunt down the remnants of the Zeon menace. His main mobile suit is RGM-79SP: GM Sniper II Custom.
