First "Initial D: Perfect Shift Online" Screens Drift into View

Sega's free-to-play quasi-racer hits 3DS in Japan next year

A couple days ago we reported on the announcement of Initial D: Perfect Shift Online, which brings the manga- and anime-based racing shifting action to Nintendo 3DS in Japan next year. Now the first screens for Sega's free-to-play racer have arrived, offering a small glimpse at how the simplified gameplay and customization looks.

You won't technically be driving in Perfect Shift Online—the car does all that stuff for you automatically. However, true to its name, this one's all about timing up or down shifts just right to stay ahead of the competition.

Sega has yet to share specific plans for monetizing the free game, which includes quests and premium races, as well as the ability to race against characters from the series.
