Yosakoi Dance-themed Manga "Hanayamata" Gets TV Anime Adaptation

Produced by Madhouse (REDLINE, Summer Wars)

It is officially announced today that the TV anime adaptation of Sou Hamayumiba's Yosakoi Dance-themed manga Hanayamata is in the works and the official site for the anime is also launched. Yosakoi is a traditional summer dance using naruko, small wooden clappers (please watch the video on the bottom of this article), which is originated in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, where I live now. The manga has been serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward since the June 2011 issue and the latest fourth tankoubon volume will be released on January 10, 2014.

The story focuses on an ordinary shy 14-year-girl Naru Sekiya who has been yearning for the heroines in fairy tales. On one moonlight night, she encounters an exchange student from the US, Hana N. Fontainestand, who looks like a "fairy" to her. Guided by Hana, Naru starts stepping into the extraordinary world of Yosakoi Dance. The TV anime is produced by acclaimed studio Madhouse

(Paprika, REDLINE, Summer Wars).
