Anime merchandise company Movic has released a series of jewelry based on Studio Ghibli films “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” and “Kiki’s Delivery Service”.
The jewelry includes a silver pendant resembling Nausicaa’s worm flute, a silver ring featuring “Kiki’s Delivery Service” black cat Jiji, and a hairpin that replicates Kiki’s flying push broom.
The silver pendant is based on Nausicaa’s worm flute, used to calm angry slug worms in the film. (Unlike the real flute, the pendant does not produce sound.) The pendant retails for 7,200 yen, plus tax.
The silver ring features the image of black cat Jiji, Kiki’s best friend. A detailed reproduction of Jiji is displayed sitting atop Kiki’s iconic ribbon and surrounded by a heart. The ring retails for 8,000 yen, plus tax.
The hairpin is based on the push broom that Kiki rides in the film instead of a witch’s broom. Dangling from the end of the broom is a bird cage containing a tiny replica of Jiji. The hairpin retails for 12,000 yen, plus tax.
The jewelry items are currently available through Chikyu-ya, Movic’s official online shop, and are planned for release through other retail outlets.
