Fans Get "Resident Evil: Outbreak" Games Back Online

Custom-made servers work with Japanese versions of the online games

Originally released in 2003 and 2004 in Japan, with other regions following not too far behind, the Resident Evil: Outbreak PlayStation 2 games took RE online with cooperative survival horror action. Capcom shut the servers down a while ago, but thanks to some clever fans they're playable online once again.

 

As detailed in a thread on NeoGAF, fans were able to reverse engineer custom-made servers for both Resident Evil: Outbreak and Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2. This only works with the Japanese versions, but if you're dedicated enough to still want to play the Outbreak games, you're probably willing to find a way to get copies of your own.
