"Final Fantasy VI" Lands on Android, Messes with Classic Graphics

Classic SNES RPG is now available on Google Play for $15.99

Final Fantasy VI pulled its Phantom Train to a stop on Android devices, and it doesn't look like it's made the smoothest of transitions. This version may be packed with the extra espers and events that were included in Final Fantasy VI Advance, as well as touchscreen menus and achievements, but the remade visuals certainly leave something to be desired.

One of the Final Fantasy series' sprite creators, Kazuko Shibuya, apparently supervised the process. Your mileage may vary, but you can see how it turned out in some screenshots below.

I'm not against change, of course. I loved the PSP versions of the first two Final Fantasy games, and it's certainly been done well before. If the new look suits you just fine, you can pick up Final Fantasy VI via the Google Play shop for $15.99. This version will be heading to iOS soon.
