The Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs announced on March 13 the recipients of the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts for the year 2013. 34-year-old popular anime voice actress/singer Nana Mizuki is one of the 11 winners of the new face award. She was awarded for her epoch-making activities as an anime voice actress/singer in Japan, the success of her recent foreign tour, and her dedication as a pioneer of "Cool Japan." The press release praises her as "a revolutionary performer who has changed everything regard to anime voice actors/actresses." Congratulations, Nana-san!
Other anime/manga-related winners of the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts are Toshio Suzuki (as the Studio Ghibli producer for The Wind Rises and Kaguyahime no Monogatari) and Daijiro Moroboshi (as the manga artist of Uriko-hime no Yoru-Cinderella no Asa, and other works). The awards
ceremony will be held in Tokyo on March 19.
