"Castlevania" Producer Koji Igarashi Leaves Konami

Igarashi plans to open his own development studio next

If you were hoping for a Koji Igarashi produced return to 2D form after the middling reception of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, well, we've got some bad news. Igarashi—who blazed forth on an amazing Castlevania run as assistant director on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night—has parted ways with Konami.

While that means we won't see IGA on future installments—sorry, no more Igarashi-run portable Castlevania games—at least we can look forward to what he has in store for us next.

In a chat with IGN, Igarashi said he plans to open his own development studio to make the kind of games he really wants to make. As Igarashi added, these are "the same kind I think fans of my past games want as well," so it should be interesting to see what he does.
