"Freedom Wars" Game Launches in Japan on June 26

Additional modes like eight-player multiplayer to come later

This week's issue of Famitsu magazine slapped a concrete release date on Sony Japan's action-RPG Freedom Wars. The multiplayer-centric game heads to PS Vita in Japan on June 26, but not every mode will be intact on day one.

When Freedom Wars launches players will be able to dig into Story, Free Volunteer, four-player ad hoc, and City-State War modes. Anyone looking forward to player-versus-player mode, eight-player multiplayer, and infrastructure mode will have to wait for a post-launch update planned to add those and additional volunteers.

Another option, Ideology Mode, will arrive via a second post-launch update.

Famitsu also detailed some of the cast and their respective actors, including Carlos "Thesodius" Jinnah, voiced by Keiji Fujiwara (Leorio in Hunter x Hunter); and champion of the "Royal Round" illegal arena Elfride "Sakamoto" Cabrera, voiced by Nao Tōyama (Kanon in The World God Only Knows).

Freedom Wars will be ¥5,800 ($57) at retail and ¥4,800 ($47) via the PlayStation Store. First-run copies offer up an exclusive Formal Wear costume and a battle item pack that includes the TB-32/H large sword and AAW-M2 rocket launcher.
