"Detective Conan" Honors Hero of "Hyouka"

Newly released volume 83 features portrait of Hōtarō Oreki

For what has now been 83 volumes of Detective Conan (aka Case Closed), each collection of the stories of a crime solver named for Sherlock Holmes and seminal genre writer Edogawa Rampo has featured the portrait of another notable hero of mystery fiction. The tribute from the newly released latest volume is remarkable for being otaku favorite, with author Gosho Aoyama honoring Hōtarō Oreki, the super-rational male lead in Honobu Yonezawa's Hyoka light novel series.

A 22-episode anime adaptation of the series was production by Kyoto Animation in 2012.
