Several Japanese media have reported that the Metropolitan Police Department arrested 27-year-old actress Ai Takabe on suspicion of violation of the Narcotics Control Law. She is accused of possessing a small amount of cocaine at her house in Shibuya ward, Tokyo, on October 15. The police found the illegal drug during a house search in the morning of the day. She has already admitted the charge and said that she got the cocaine from her friend. After receiving the news from the police, her agency immediately cancelled a management contract with her.
Takabe won the Gravure Award in the 10th All Japan Bishoujo Contest held in August 2004, then joined girls idol group Boshoujo Club 31 in the following September. While working as actress and gravure idol, she also voiced in four TV anime series: as Fumi Manjoume in Aoi Hana (2009), Maiko in Hourou Musuko (2011), SP in Sacred Seven (2011), and Agiri Goshiki in Kill Me Baby (2012).
