He was performing for the ongoing "Digimon Adventure tri." series

The official website for the anison singer Koji Wada announced today that he passed away in the early morning of April 3 due to upper pharynx cancer. He was 42. At the request by his family, a private funeral was already held with his close relatives. An "Owakare no Kai (Farewell Gathering)" for his fans is scheduled to be held in Tokyo later this month. Details will be noticed on his official website and his agency SOLID VOX's website.

Wada made his professional singer debut with his 1st single "Butter-Fly" in April 1999, which was used as the OP song for the 1st Digimon Adventure TV anime series. His cancer was founded in 2003, then he had to take long hiatus from activities twice, from 2003 to 2005, and 2011 to 2013. Most recently he re-recorded his 1st single song and "Seven" (Digimon Adventure insert song) for the ongoing Digimon Adventure tri. series, and was probably planned to perform more.
