"Studio Ghibli Layout Exhibition" Comes to Shizuoka City Museum of Art

Installation includes some 1300 pieces of layout artwork from 33 different animated works

An art exhibit entitled the "Studio Ghibli Layout Exhibition" is coming soon to the Shizuoka City Museum of Art in Aoi Ward, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. 

 


The exhibit will feature some 1300 pieces of layout artwork - full-sized pencil drawings that animators use to maintain a consistent visual aesthetic in their work - from 33 different Studio Ghibli works ranging from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind to When Marnie Was There.

 

 

Additionally, the museum will also be hosting a lecture entitled "Subjective and Objective" on January 17, 2017, which features Ghibli director Isao Takahata as the key speaker. The "Studio Ghibli Layout Exhibition" runs from November 19, 2016 until February 05, 2017, with tickets ranging in price from 900 yen ($8.97 US) for college students and seniors to 1300 yen ($12.95 US) for adults.
