Yutaka Yamamoto Refuses to Answer Any Questions on New "Wake Up, Girls"

Shin Itagaki (Teekyu, Berserk) will direct the new TV series in 2017

A new TV series from the Wake Up, Girls! franchise was announced at the "Wake Up, Girls! Festa. 2016 SUPER LIVE!" event held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture yesterday on December 11. The biggest surprise in the announcement was a lack of the name of Yutaka Yamamoto, the original creator of the franchise and the director of the first TV anime series, in the new production staff member list. The new series titled Wake Up,Girls! Shinsho (New Chapter) is directed by Shin Itagaki (Teekyu, Berserk). Millepensee alone works on anime production for a 2017 premiere.

The anime project was revealed in September 2012, and after the audition to find the voice cast for the seven main idol characters, the first feature film Wake Up, Girls! - Seven Idols was released in January 2014. Then the 12-episode first TV anime series was aired from January to March of the year, and its two-part sequel films, Seishun no Kage and Beyond the Bottom, were released in September and December 2015. Yutaka Yamamoto directed all of the main anime series and his production company

Ordet co-produced the first film and TV series with Tatsunoko Production and worked with Millepensee for

the last two films. Ordet is also missing from the new list.

After the announcement yesterday, fans are sending questions to Yamamoto's official Twitter asking why

his name is not included in the staff list and about his current and future involvement with the franchise.

But he has, seemingly, no liberty or intention to answer any of them. He has just kept saying, "I can't answer

to that."
