Hayao Miyazaki NHK TV Special Gets Extended Director's Cut

Repeat broadcast scheduled for January 29, 2017, will include 20 minutes of previously unpublished scenes

NHK made waves back in November of 2016 with a TV special focusing on Studio Ghibli co-founder / anime director Hayao Miyazaki coming out of retirement to work on his first 3DCG film, Boro the Caterpillar. Now a special, extended version of the TV special will be broadcast on NHK in January.

"Owaranai Hito: Miyazaki Hayao" ("Neverending Person: Hayao Miyazaki") will be re-broadcast on NHK BS1 on January 29, 2017, from 7:00 PM - 8:10PM JST. This broadcast will include 20 minutes of previously unpublished footage, which director Kaku Arakawa claims will help viewers to better understand Miyazaki's feelings.
