"Nier: Automata" Hits 1 Million Copy Milestone, Yoko Taro Thanks Fans

Nier: Automata wasn't exactly staring down the barrel of an easy, surefire launch when it debuted last month (February 23 in Japan, March 7 in North America). It came out around the same time as heavy hitters like Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but that didn't stop it from pushing 1 million units worldwide in less than two months. 


This impressive number combines retail copy shipments and digital sales across PlayStation 4 and PC. Not bad for a niche action-RPG sequel. Here's what director Yoko Taro had to say in response on Twitter:
