"Your Lie in April" Stage Play Hits Tokyo and Osaka in Summer of 2017

Stage adaptation based on Naoshi Arakawa's manga is directed by Naohiro Ise and features a script by Kaori Miura

Naoshi Arakawa's poignant manga, Your Lie in April, is being adapted into a stage play that will run in Tokyo and Osaka in the Summer season of 2017. The play will run from August 24 - September 03, 2017, at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo venue in Tokyo, and from September 07 - 10, 2017, at the Umeda Arts Theater - Drama City venue in Osaka.

 

 

The play features a script by Kaori Miura, direction by Naohiro Ise, and production by Avex Pictures. The cast for the play includes:

 

  • Shintarō Anzai as Kousei Arima.
  • Arisa Matsunaga as Kaori Miyazono.
  • Misato Kawauchi as Tsubaki Suwabe.
  • Masanari Wada as Ryouta Watari.
  • Haruka Yamashita as Emi Igawa.
  • Shojiro Yokoi as Takeshi Aiza.
  • And others.

 

Tickets for the Your Lie in April stage play cost 6800 yen ($61.09 US) for regular seating and 9800 yen ($88.04 US) for premium seating.

 

 

The original Your Lie in April manga was serialized from 2011 - 2015 in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Magazine. The series was also adapted into a TV anime in 2014 - 2015 and a live-action film in 2016. Crunchyroll describes the story of the Your Lie in April TV series as follows:

 

"Kousei Arima was a genius pianist until his mother's sudden death took away his ability to play. Each day was dull for Kousei. But, then he meets a violinist named Kaori Miyazono who has an eccentric playing style. His monotonus life was about to change forever."
