Singer Mai Kuraki Wins Guinness World Record for "Case Closed" Music

Kuraki holds the record for "the most theme songs performed by a single artist for an anime series"

At an official ceremony in Tokyo on July 25, 2017, singer Mai Kuraki was given the Guiness World Record award for "most theme songs performed by a single artist for an anime series" for her work producing 21 songs so far for Case Closed (known in Japan as Detective Conan). At the event, Kuraki thanked her fans for all the support she's received over the 17 year collaboration.

Kuraki began her work as a Case Closed songstress in 2000 with an ending theme for the TV anime entitled "Secret of my heart", which she performed while she was still a high school student. Her most recent song for the series appears in the 2017 theatrical anime film, Case Closed: Crimson Love Letter, which debutted in Japan in April of this year.

To celebrate the achievement, a 2-disc music CD featuring all 21 of Kuraki's Case Closed songs will be released in Japan on October 25, 2017. The first edition limited printing of the "Mai Kuraki x Case Closed COLLABORATION BEST 21 ~ The Truth is Always in the Song!~" album will include a bonus DVD, the contents of which will be announced at a later date.
