The broadcast of The Ancient Magus' Bride - a TV anime based on the fantasy manga by Kore Yamazaki about a young woman who becomes the apprentice and fiancé of a powerful, otherworldly sorcerer - is still a few days away, but in the mean time the official Twitter feed for the series has begun publishing a spin-off mini-anime entitled "Mahoyome" that features chibi versions of the characters.
"Mahoyome" features the same voice cast as The Ancient Magus' Bride, including Atsume Tanezaki as Chise, Ryota Takeuchi as Elias, and Kōki Uchiyama as Ruth. A new episode will be published each Wednesday, but the episodes will only be available for a limited time: as soon as a new "Mahoyome" is published, the previous week's release will be taken down.
The original The Ancient Magus' Bride manga is serialized in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Garden manga magazine. An English language version of the manga is also published by Seven Seas Entertainment. The TV anime adaptation of The Ancient Magus' Bride is directed by Norihiro Naganuma and features animation by Wit Studio.
The Ancient Magus' Bride will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 07, 2017, and it will also stream on Crunchyroll as part of the Fall 2017 simulcast line-up. Crunchyroll describes the story of The Ancient Magus' Bride as follows:
Hatori Chise has lived a life full of neglect and abuse, devoid of anything resembling love. Far from the warmth of family, she has had her share of troubles and pitfalls. Just when all hope seems lost, a fateful encounter awaits her. When a man with the head of a beast, wielding strange powers, obtains her through a slave auction, Chise's life will never be the same again.
