The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that 26 films have submitted for consideration in this year’s animated feature category

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that 26 films have submitted for consideration in this year’s animated feature category. This included anime In This Corner of the World, Mary and the Witch's Flower, Napping Princess, A Silent Voice, and Sword Art Online - Ordinal Scale.

“Cinderella the Cat”
“Coco”
“Despicable Me 3”

“Ethel & Ernest”
“Ferdinand”
“The Girl without Hands”
“In This Corner of the World”
“The Lego Batman Movie”
“The Lego Ninjago Movie”
“Loving Vincent”
“Mary and the Witch’s Flower”
“Moomins and the Winter Wonderland”
“My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea”
“Napping Princess”
“A Silent Voice”
“Smurfs: The Lost Village”
“The Star”
“Sword Art Online: The Movie – Ordinal Scale”

Variety notes embattled distributor The Weinstein Co. appears to have not submitted August release Leap! Open Road features The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature and Spark: A Space Tail weren't on the list either.


Several of the films have yet to complete their required Los Angeles qualifying run. This matters because, depending on the number of films that qualify, two to five nominees will be selected. Sixteen or more films must qualify for the maximum of five nominees to be voted.
