"Comic Girls" TV Anime Crashes Tokyo MX in Spring of 2018

Adaptation of humorous 4-panel manga by Kaori Hanzawa focuses on a quartet of lady comic artists sharing a home

Winter Comiket 2017 is in full swing in Japan, and Comic Girls - an upcoming TV anime based on the humorous 4-panel manga by Kaori Hanzawa about a group of 4 young ladies living and creating comics a dorm designed especially for artists - is now confirmed to be coming to Tokyo MX and other stations in the Spring season of 2018.

The original Comic Girls manga is serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Max seinen manga magazine. The story follows Kaoruko Moeta, a 15-year-old high school student who makes yonkoma manga under the pen name of "Chaos". After a reader survey ranks Kaoruko at rock bottom, her editor recommends a transfer to an all-female manga creator dorm, where Kaoruko lives and commiserates with fellow mangaka Koyume Koizuka (a shojo manga artist), Ruki Irokawa (an ecchi manga artist), and Tsubasa Katsuki (a shonen manga artist).

The Comic Girls TV anime is directed by Yoshinobu Tokumoto and features animation by Nexus.
