"Boys Over Flowers" Sequel to Premiere as TV Drama

"Hare Nochi Hana" airs on TBS this spring

A few months ago, we reported that Boys Over Flowers creator Yoko Kamio had denied the production of a new live-action series. Well, technically she was telling the truth -- because this spring we'll be seeing a live-action adaptation of its sequel, Hana Nochi Hare, otherwise known as Boys Over Flowers Season 2.

The manga takes place several years after the original series, long after the F4 have graduated. With declining enrollment due to a recession and the rise of a rival school, Eitoku Academy is now ruled by the "Correct 5." The group seeks out -- then runs out -- any students whose families haven't made appropriate donations to the school.

The story follows Correct 5 leader Haruto and student Oto, an impoverished student attending the academy for reasons having nothing to do with money. When the two discover each other's secrets -- that Haruto buys self-help items to get stronger, and that Oto is poor and works at a convenience store -- they promise to keep each other's secrets.

Oto will be played by Hana Sugisaki, who appeared in last year's Blade of the Immortal film as Rin. KING & PRINCE member Sho Hirano and upcoming Kakegurui star Taishi Nakagawa will also be appearing.

Boys Over Flowers Season 2 will be broadcast on TBS starting in April, in the Tuesday 10 pm drama slot.
