Six more cast members and additional broadcast details have been revealed for Captain Tsubasa, the latest TV anime adaptation based on the much beloved soccer sports manga by Yoichi Takahashi. The new cast members include:
Megumi Han as Takeshi Sawada.
Yūichirō Umehara as Ken Wakashimazu.
Ayako Takeuchi as Masao Tachibana and Yurina Watanabe as Kazuo Tachibana.
Soma Saito as Jun Misugi.
And Wataru Hatano as Hikaru Matsuyama.
The original Captain Tsubasa manga was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump manga magazine from 1981 - 1988, and the series has since inspired 5 sequel manga, including the most recent, Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun, which is currently serialized in Shueisha's Grand Jump seinen manga magazine. Captain Tsubasa has also been adapted into 3 earlier anime TV series, 4 theatrical anime films, multiple video games, and a stage play.
The 2018 Captain Tsubasa TV anime is directed by Toshiyuki Kato and features animation by David Production. The series will broadcast according to the following TV schedule:
Please note that some Japanese TV schedules count early-morning programming as late-night programming of the previous day, so for example the 25:35 time slot on Monday night is actually at 1:35 AM JST on Tuesday morning.
Captain Tsubasa has also been licensed for distribution in North America and Latin America by Viz Media. The story of the series follows soccer prodigy Tsubasa Oozora as he and his teammates grow and learn through the practice of soccer.
