In addition to the last three episodes, the 11th to 13th, the last fourth DVD/Blu-ray volume of the TV anime adaptation of Kana Akatsuki's fantasy light novel series Violet Evergarden also includes a newly-produced "Extra Episode." It is set in several months between the TV anime's fourth and fifth episodes, and focuses on the protagonist Violet's hidden growing-up story. Kyoto Animation's official YouTube channel has posted one minute trailer for it.
The DVD/Blu-ray including the four episodes is set to be released in Japan on July 4. Three days prior to the release, the "Extra Episode" will be screened at the special film & concert event to be held at NHK Hall in Tokyo on July 1. The seven main voice cast, including Yui Ishikawa who played Vilolet, and the OP song singer TRUE are also scheduled to join. 7,500-yen ticket will be available on Canime.jp until May 23.

The Kyoto Animation-produced TV anime adaptation was aired for 13 episodes in Japan from January to
April 2018, and has been also available internationally via Netflix.
