"Gintama 2" Live-Action Film Reveals Its Official Title, Story Details, 5 New Character Visuals

Highly-anticipated sequel is set to open in Japan on August 17

Since the announcement for its production last November, the upcoming second live-action film based on Hideaki Sorachi's sci-fi comedy manga series Gintama has been simply called Gintama 2 (kari/tentative). The film's official website finally revealed its official title, story details, and five new character visuals today.

The sequel is now officially titled, Gintama 2: Okite wa Yaburu tame ni koso Aru (The Rule is surely there to be broken), and is based on the original manga's two popular stories: the "Shinsengumi Douran-hen/Shinsengumi Crisis Arc" (chapter 158-168) and the "Shogun Settai-hen/Shogun Reception Arc" featuring the 14th ruling Shogun of Edo, Shigeshige Tokugawa.

The first film released in July 2017 was based on the manga's "Kabuto-gari" episodes (chapter 83-84) and the "Benizakura Arc" (chapter 89-97), while the three-episode web drama told the "Mitsuba

Arc" (chapter 129-132).

The site also revealed five new character visuals. Their names are currently kept secret, but it is obvious

for the manga fans who they are. Their cast will be announced in the end of this month.
