Video Game Orchestra returns to Boston Symphony Hall on October 7th!

A night of video game music with full orchestra, rock band, and game industry legends in attendance.

September 19th, 2012: The Video Game Orchestra (VGO) is proud to announce the anticipated return to the legendary venue that is Boston Symphony Hall!

Over the past 4 years, VGO have been putting on exciting live shows featuring video game music in Rockestral (that is, Rock + Orchestral) style at numerous big conventions and venues across the US. On March 10th, VGO served as the official orchestra for the long running and critically acclaimed concert tour Distant Worlds taking place in Boston Symphony Hall, and finally made their own sold out debut there with Back to the Future; a night of video game and film music with Back to the Future composer Alan Silverstri in attendance the following month.

Now, the orchestra finally returns with an all new production, Video Game Orchestra ~Live at Symphony Hall~. Boston Symphony Hall will once again be filled with the vibrant world of video game music, and give the audience a unique experience, blending the world of classical music with the most modern of entertainment. It will be a night that promises to create memories and inspire young and old, as music from Final Fantasy, Grandia, Kingdom Hearts, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and Chrono Trigger will be featured throughout the night, and the audience will be joined by 4 special guest composers: Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts), Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII), Noriyuki Iwadare (Grandia) and Kinuyo Yamashita (Castlevania).

Live at Symphony Hall takes place Sunday, October 7th, 2012, at 8 p.m., at Boston's Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Ave. Tickets range from $40.50 to $100 and are on sale now at www.bso.org or 888-266-1200. There will be a VIP meet and greet after the concert.

About the VGO: Since its inception in 2008, The Video Game Orchestra (VGO) has become recognized around the world as one of the finest and most creative performing groups based in the video game industry by both peers, fans and founding fathers of the genre. It is with the energetic fusion of classical and contemporary influences that the orchestra founded in Boston has captivated not only the hearts of the local fans, but across all corners of the world. Founded by Japanese born guitarist Shota Nakama, VGO came to be from Nakama's greatest passions in life, live performance and video games, and the belief that their worlds could not only be combined, but that new life could be brought to the endearing classics that fans for years have heard in the background of their favorite video games. Over time, the orchestra has performed as part of major events such as PAX, Anime Boston and Distant Worlds, sold out venues such as Boston Symphony Hall, and have been joined by legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu and Final Fantasy XIII composer Masashi Hamauzu.
