    Poorly structured and paced
It has the feel of many 50 to 60 episode long shows but with only 12 episodes. What I mean by this is that the story would have been told better if it were considerably longer. Instead we are given drastic character mood swings that seem to be brought on by minor events, useless characters that add nothing to the story, and a villain with what is probably the worst motive I have ever seen. In the ...

  • Interesting Premise, Poor Execution
From the previews, this seemed like the type of show I would love - elemental swords, magic, and some great character designs. The actual show was definitely a disappointment. The pacing felt off; the ending didn't feel like it resolved anything, and the main character had the Naruto-like ability to end fights not by fighting but by talking and convincing his opponent to join him. While I don't ...

    Unsatisfying Satisfaction
In a story that appears to be aiming for exploring the different types of relationships, Arata the Legend falls flat on its face. By the time motives are exposed, the show is over. By the time the whining about how hopeless the protagonist is ends, so does the show. The ending clearly indicates an indication of a second season even though one can not be found.

Arata the Legend shows a lot of ...

Arata the Legend: Coming of Age
Arata the Legend's first season has recently finished airing. It is an anime about a world governed by a Princess and her 12 Guardians/Advisers called 'Shinsho' - warriors chosen by magical weapons called 'Hayagami'. The story starts with the Shinsho betraying the princess and attempting to kill her, and using the main character as a scapegoat for their ambitions. And thus begins the first season ...

  • Good anime... if you haven't read the manga.
I know it's not Yuu Watase's fault for how this anime turned out, so it really sucks it got crammed into 12 episodes and didn't resolve everything. I haven't read the manga yet so I'm sure all of these issues will get resolved but it would've been nice to have it done in the show as well. Overall though I liked it!

  • A review on arata the legend
This anime series has a very catch plot yet the episodes produced was very short if there would be more episode it would garner a lot of interested people. The plot involves two different kinds of worlds that would put interest to the viewer. It is really amazing to see a regular student like Arata himself would switched place with another Arata in another world. You can also manage to observe ...

    Had potential to be good
If this had many more episodes (maybe around 40-60), it'd do the characters and plot justice. As it is, character development (and most everything else) was really rushed. I guess they had to make that sacrifice in order to tell as much of the story as they did, which was a shame, since this did have a lot of potential. It's certainly interesting. One of the more important flaws was the reason for ...

    Why is this so short?
While this is not my favorite anime, it was still entertaining while it lasted. The story is similar to other shows you've seen. The story seems rushed in parts but it still has decent flow. It leaves me wondering why it stops at 12 episodes though. There is obviously plenty of story left but from what I can find on the internet, no plans for further episodes. So, definitely worth a watch, but ...

I still don't get the hate?!?
After watching this I still don't understand why Arata was being picked on. I didn't get it at all. Looks like some big race happened and he won and it cause a downward spiral for his friend. That's like if I passed gas and aimed it at the person next to me then we would become enemies for life. There is no expiation as to why Arata is hated and that made me want to hate everyone else for no ...

Not the Story Yuu Watase Wanted...Go in with an Open Mind..
Arata isn't completely horrible when you go into it not expecting it to be an actual Watase story. Unfortunately, Watase had many hardships in writing the 22 volume manga which got rectified too late to save the anime.

Below is a link talking about how editorial harassment ruined Arata's story as well as almost ruined Watase's want to create more manga.
