  • Don't waste your time.
Main villain is just a whiny high-schooler who hates the main character because he thinks the main character purposely slowed down in a foot race they were having at school. TERRIBLE motive that can not, in any possible way, justify the amount of hate and contempt he holds. And that alone just kills the show for me. All of the characters have half baked personalities. The show doesn't have any ...

  • Liked more than I thought I would...
I watched all my current top choices, and while I didn't plan on watching this, I found myself enjoying this more than I thought I would.
Though, in my opinion it was nothing too special (I mean there is a ton of anime out there), I continued to go to the next episode until completed in a very short amount of time (a day or two).
At any rate, if you choose to watch it...enjoy.

  • So much potential, weak execution
There was so much potential for a fun anime in this but the villain was so crappy. His entire reason for being "evil" and fighting the protagonist is so childish and whiny it becomes cringe worthy each time he says anything. If you can stomach a weak villain and poor scripting of the overall good and evil fight there are still some elements to this. Would not recommend watching unless you are just ...

  • Arata the Legend of poor execution
While the animation and music score are very pleasing to see and hear, 'Arata the Legend' pales in comparison to the original source material. The first episode is hastily rushed leaving no time for the viewers to get to know the characters, and their back story's are hardly explained. Character development is painfully slow, much slower then it was in the manga, while others have no development ...

    Talking No Jutsu- Arata Version
If you guys thought Naruto's Lecture-no-jutsu was bad, this guys talking-no-jutsu is even stronger. It pretty much makes up the bulk of all the fights.

    Now, back to the anime:
Bad pacing. Jumps between plot, and inconsistent pacing.
Psychotic characters. They change quite often for no reason.
Stupid Motives. Yeah, its lame. Watch it, and you will cringe. I guarantee it.
    Okay fighting. Yeah ...

  • Like The Twelve Kingdoms, only bad.
The Arata anime was clearly written as the first season of a much longer series, in which the hero experiences profound character growth and explores relations with other heroes and villains who are deep and well-realized characters in their own right. Unfortunately, the production company evidently got the news around episode 6 that they'd only get 12 episodes, and they compressed the remaining ...

    Interesting Premise, Poor Execution
From the previews, this seemed like the type of show I would love - elemental swords, magic, and some great character designs. The actual show was definitely a disappointment. The pacing felt off; the ending didn't feel like it resolved anything, and the main character had the Naruto-like ability to end fights not by fighting but by talking and convincing his opponent to join him. While I don't ...

    Unsatisfying Satisfaction
In a story that appears to be aiming for exploring the different types of relationships, Arata the Legend falls flat on its face. By the time motives are exposed, the show is over. By the time the whining about how hopeless the protagonist is ends, so does the show. The ending clearly indicates an indication of a second season even though one can not be found.

Arata the Legend shows a lot of ...

Arata the Legend: Coming of Age
Arata the Legend's first season has recently finished airing. It is an anime about a world governed by a Princess and her 12 Guardians/Advisers called 'Shinsho' - warriors chosen by magical weapons called 'Hayagami'. The story starts with the Shinsho betraying the princess and attempting to kill her, and using the main character as a scapegoat for their ambitions. And thus begins the first season ...

Good anime... if you haven't read the manga.
I know it's not Yuu Watase's fault for how this anime turned out, so it really sucks it got crammed into 12 episodes and didn't resolve everything. I haven't read the manga yet so I'm sure all of these issues will get resolved but it would've been nice to have it done in the show as well. Overall though I liked it!
