A must-watch for fans of the slice-of-life genre
Crunchyroll seems to be on a roll, as it were, in introducing some of my all-time favorite anime series.

Aria follows the life and career of female "undines", or girls who pilot gondolas on a future terraformed Mars, now called "Aqua". The show is beautiful, thoughtful, and sublimely directed. It has moments of lightheartedness, but is generally not frivolous or silly. Akari and her friends ...

    Another GREAT series.
I don't know if it's possible for others as it may have been a matter of time and place, but when this anime came out it changed my life. I don't say that lightly. It's impact didn't last forever but at the time it changed my outlook on life. That's a lot to put on a series, any series, really, but this was the first time I was ever introduced to the concept of a slice of life story.
    There is no ...

  • A Gem! Must Watch!!!
Apparently this was a "classic" anime, from 2005! Only, I hadn't heard of it before now and I'm sad that I've only found out about more than 10 years later!! I am happy though that I finally am getting to see it! I'm so glad Crunchyroll got it!

It's an anime that's slow and steady- like a gondola gently floating down a river. It's very calming to watch. That's all it is, but it is beautiful ...

  • Now y'all don't know how many times I've watched and rewatched this show!
Okay, I'm going to be real this show is in my Top 5 of all anime, and easily my absolute top in Slice of Life (followed by Amanchu, Flying Witch, and others). Is you like slice of life, if you've had a bad day, or if you just want to watch a show to feel good and have some minor faith in the world, THIS IS IT!

This anime is made for you just to enjoy life. When they get season 2 and 3 up here ...

  • Aria, the restful dream
Whenever I need something to relax from too much stress, this is the show I turn on. When I finish up an episode, it feels like I had just woken up from a wonderful nap. And when I marathon the series, is like the afternoon passes like a beautiful dream.

  • Lush, soothing, and beautiful
Aria the Animation is the first season of three (along with a few specials and a movie). It is a slice-of-life anime, and more specifically in a genre called iyashikei, literally translating to "healing," with a mostly soothing story. The conflicts are generally not external, but instead have to do with how the people interact with each other and their own selves.

    The artwork is absolutely ...

  • It's not about the destination, it's about the journey
It seems silly to use such a cliche' phrase for a review but honestly that is what the entire feeling of the anime puts out. It is all about enjoying life through your friends and work and does so in a way that is easy to watch not only due to the voice acting but also due to animation style and pacing.

I have been watching anime for a long time, longer and with more investment than any other ...

  • Visually stunning, and very lighthearted.
The Yuri undertones go nowhere. Ultimately, all the pairings are straight.
I said that first, because there are a LOT of said undertones, and a bunch of the pairings happen all of a sudden, with little to no justification. (That's right Alicia's husband, I'M LOOKING AT YOU)
That out of the way, this is a gentle series set in a fantastic and beautiful world. The fan service is light and for the ...

  • a classic for its time.
This is on most anime fans list as a must watch.

An interesting combination of slice of life and science fiction. It a relaxing, beautifully animated work for its time.

If you want a lot of action, fan service or mecha then look somewhere else, but if you like feeling relaxed then I suggest this show.

If you like this I would also suggest “flying witch” which has more than a ...

  • A beautiful and Amazing Anime!
This anime is so beautiful! I discovered it from a few songs from a favorite artist but got hooked immediately. The art, the music, the sounds, everything in this show is extremely heart-warming. This show has saved me through the darkest times of my life and I am forever grateful to it! I can never put into words how special this show is! If you ever want to relax, laugh, sing, cry, or experience ...
