And this is why sailors refer to a ship as "She."
Anyone who remembers the live-action TV show Andromeda (aired 2000-2005) will instantly recognize the premise of a ship with an avatar embodiment/command system. Iona is the avatar of I-401, a submarine of the Fleet of Fog which has defected to the human cause in the naval war between the two sides. Apparently, while only some Fog ships possess avatars, they all possess advanced weapons ...

One Of My Favourite Anime This Fall!
After you watch the opening scene to Arpeggio of Blue Steel you should be hooked due to its brilliant art style. It looks astonishingly good, and the fluid animation makes it look even better. The story revolves around these warships that take the form of a human beings and are used to fight in a group called "Fleet of Fog". The main character goes rouge with his ship who's character is called ...

altho it makes you think about the big questions of life, the animation is cheep, all the characters (except 401) are easily influenced and the storyline is weak. good comedy moments. beautiful character designs. fighting scenes aren't paced well. great seyuus...

    Run-of-the-mill Action Anime
The series has strong potential, and a very strong premise; however, the execution was faulty at best. Simply put, this is just a run-of-the-mill action anime, with an interesting backstory.

  • Deep questions...for a submarine.
This anime was really interesting, the characters were lively, and the plot wasn't too bad. The concept was outlandish and kind of restricted for my tastes and I did get bored a couple of times, thus it lost a star. However, the story plays out really well, and the climax of it all falls into place with what most might call a happy ending. However, I'll let you be the judge. I don't think this ...

  • Who knew battleships could be so sexy!!
I don't write reviews on anything normally, however, this particular anime was great! Simply beautiful; the animation was spectacular through and through-- the opening alone was enough to suck me in. The plot is centered around the character development of the Fog and the action that takes place at sea during their development. It's a short anime, unfortunately, but short and sweet is also a ...

  • The best anime involving ships I have ever seen
This show was WAY better than I expected it to be, very heart felt, serious, and yet comedic in its own special sense, I really hope this gets a second season in the near future, and I would like to thank SG all the effort they did as it was really well done and I would recommend it to anyone that loves anime and a serious yet funny plot.

  • Great show to watch!
Moonhawk81's review sums it up pretty well so I won't repeat what he wrote. It's rare for anime to cover naval warfare, the alien twist & advanced technology is a big plus that makes this anime even better than expected. The virtual reality in which the aliens meet to discuss proper behavior and thinking and the importance of conformity was original and WELL done. I'm not a navy fan or anything ...

  • Explore humanity with the Blue Fleet
It's all pros and no cons with this anime. Epic naval warfare, grasping and tear-jerking drama, and a unique animation style make this anime worth watching several times over. The cute female models are always a plus, and Arpeggio of Blue Steel is so tightly story-driven that nothing superfluous distracts from its grand plot.

  • Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Songs of the Sea
The world has been divided... the oceans are no longer safe, taken over by a mysterious fleet of incredibly advanced sentient ships known as the Fleet of Fog who appeared out of nowhere, blockaded all of the world's ports, and cut off all communication by air or water - effectively isolating the world's nations from each other and causing the gradual decline of civilization. One of these ships was ...
