And this is why sailors refer to a ship as "She."
Anyone who remembers the live-action TV show Andromeda (aired 2000-2005) will instantly recognize the premise of a ship with an avatar embodiment/command system. Iona is the avatar of I-401, a submarine of the Fleet of Fog which has defected to the human cause in the naval war between the two sides. Apparently, while only some Fog ships possess avatars, they all possess advanced weapons ...

One Of My Favourite Anime This Fall!
After you watch the opening scene to Arpeggio of Blue Steel you should be hooked due to its brilliant art style. It looks astonishingly good, and the fluid animation makes it look even better. The story revolves around these warships that take the form of a human beings and are used to fight in a group called "Fleet of Fog". The main character goes rouge with his ship who's character is called ...

  • An adaptation that could have been better
Arpeggio of Blue Steel is an adaptation of the manga of the same name that eventually diverts from the original plot in order to conclude the series in a single season. However, the plot up until the half-way point is fairly true to the source material. This show is probably best classified as a sci-fi magical girl genre, though the "magic" here is always technology such as processing speeds, ...

  • Arpeggio of Blue Steel was freaking awesome!
Very engaging and well thought out, sucked me in in the first five minutes. Loved the crew and the idea of the ships as people. Watched the whole season in only two days. I hope there is a season two. To many unanswered question. I would highly recommend this program.

  • Great series, but no real aftermath
I really loved to watch this series, the story is well written and the graphics are amazing. Great use of the ammo depleting as well, although it's unclear to me how the enemy ships can have so much more ammo, looks rather unlimited since they don't seem to have a base either.

I do wish there was a better aftermath, or ending if you like. The last battle goes on so long that there is not much ...

A cool series marred by unnecessary fanservice
AotBS is a quick and fun series perfect for anyone who likes their missiles, lasers and forcefields. It's also in the water instead of outer space, which is a nice change of pace of sorts.

The CG animation is for the human and humanoid characters is... not the best. There are times when watching comes perilously close to feeling like watching some Touhou PV on Youtube or something. When the ...

  • Come on Japan WTF get it together!
I finally watched the series finale to Arpeggio of Blue Steel.
Lets just say I was not best pleased with the final battle.
(Though the boat bits were cool, such a pretty show)
Plus boats can't get more power/fuel from will power.
If they could all our energy problems would be solved.
    I once heard ...

altho it makes you think about the big questions of life, the animation is cheep, all the characters (except 401) are easily influenced and the storyline is weak. good comedy moments. beautiful character designs. fighting scenes aren't paced well. great seyuus...

    Run-of-the-mill Action Anime
The series has strong potential, and a very strong premise; however, the execution was faulty at best. Simply put, this is just a run-of-the-mill action anime, with an interesting backstory.
