And this is why sailors refer to a ship as "She."
Anyone who remembers the live-action TV show Andromeda (aired 2000-2005) will instantly recognize the premise of a ship with an avatar embodiment/command system. Iona is the avatar of I-401, a submarine of the Fleet of Fog which has defected to the human cause in the naval war between the two sides. Apparently, while only some Fog ships possess avatars, they all possess advanced weapons ...

One Of My Favourite Anime This Fall!
After you watch the opening scene to Arpeggio of Blue Steel you should be hooked due to its brilliant art style. It looks astonishingly good, and the fluid animation makes it look even better. The story revolves around these warships that take the form of a human beings and are used to fight in a group called "Fleet of Fog". The main character goes rouge with his ship who's character is called ...

  • I thought it was really good!
I'm causal anime watcher. I came across this on Netflix and I thought was real good. I liked the dichotomy between the dated appearance of the WWII era Japanese naval war ships and the advanced tech that resided within them. The concept of the ship minds were interesting too. I'm a real big fan of Blue Sub No. 6 and this series scratched that same itch. Definitely would re watch this series.

  • Loved the manga, but the anime is kind of meh.
I found this anime by falling in love with the manga. I love the plot and this flavor of sci-fi. So while waiting for more of the manga to come out I decided to go after the anime. I was kind of disappointed. The whole thing seemed very rushed, and the animation was a let down. I'm not saying "THIS SHOW IS CRAP DON'T WATCH!" This show was still enjoyable, but these two issues just kind of ...

  • Pretty Cool series...
The series looks great the ships were well defined pretty good action scenes well thought out strategies the characters were likeable but not well developed (the females were of course but that's not what I'm talking about here) I enjoyed the series a lot it's a good premise for a story but the reason I'm giving four stars instead of five would be for a multitude of unanswered questions and a ...

  • Amazing! I loved this!
The reason I watched this is because I would always see it when browsing for new things to watch. I saw this one and it looked interesting so I did watch it. I must say that I was very pleased. It was well animated, the character were cool, and all around I loved it. After I recommended this to a friend, she told me she has the same thoughts. I would recommend this to just about anyone!

    A Serious Disappointment
Not worth the time. The art and animation were good, and I liked the tactical ship battles. I thought those portions were well-done, but other than that...

Characterization was VERY poor, even for a short anime. The human crew had no personalities and no development at all, they might as well not have even been there. That even includes the captain who never really did anything much except ...

An adaptation that could have been better
Arpeggio of Blue Steel is an adaptation of the manga of the same name that eventually diverts from the original plot in order to conclude the series in a single season. However, the plot up until the half-way point is fairly true to the source material. This show is probably best classified as a sci-fi magical girl genre, though the "magic" here is always technology such as processing speeds, ...

  • Arpeggio of Blue Steel was freaking awesome!
Very engaging and well thought out, sucked me in in the first five minutes. Loved the crew and the idea of the ships as people. Watched the whole season in only two days. I hope there is a season two. To many unanswered question. I would highly recommend this program.
