And this is why sailors refer to a ship as "She."
Anyone who remembers the live-action TV show Andromeda (aired 2000-2005) will instantly recognize the premise of a ship with an avatar embodiment/command system. Iona is the avatar of I-401, a submarine of the Fleet of Fog which has defected to the human cause in the naval war between the two sides. Apparently, while only some Fog ships possess avatars, they all possess advanced weapons ...

One Of My Favourite Anime This Fall!
After you watch the opening scene to Arpeggio of Blue Steel you should be hooked due to its brilliant art style. It looks astonishingly good, and the fluid animation makes it look even better. The story revolves around these warships that take the form of a human beings and are used to fight in a group called "Fleet of Fog". The main character goes rouge with his ship who's character is called ...

    This is a must-watch!
As a longtime fan of the manga, I can safely say they did a FANTASTIC job on this show. They captured the characters perfectly, the animation is smooth, and the story (while not quite as complex as the manga) is perfectly paced. Moreover, the music is great. I haven't enjoyed an anime this much since Sword Art Online.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Songs of the Sea
The world has been divided... the oceans are no longer safe, taken over by a mysterious fleet of incredibly advanced sentient ships known as the Fleet of Fog who appeared out of nowhere, blockaded all of the world's ports, and cut off all communication by air or water - effectively isolating the world's nations from each other and causing the gradual decline of civilization. One of these ships was ...

    Excellent Anime, 5 Stars!
This show is why I love Anime, great story with enough mystery to keep me hooked, and epic combat sequences. This series is full CGI, the stiff gestures belay that fact, but the look is superb. The models are extremely detailed, right down to writing on the hulls. It's also refreshing to see a strong MALE lead, not one who's wimpy or awkward, but has a calm commanding cool. A lot of the current ...

Loved the manga, but the anime is kind of meh.
I found this anime by falling in love with the manga. I love the plot and this flavor of sci-fi. So while waiting for more of the manga to come out I decided to go after the anime. I was kind of disappointed. The whole thing seemed very rushed, and the animation was a let down. I'm not saying "THIS SHOW IS CRAP DON'T WATCH!" This show was still enjoyable, but these two issues just kind of ...

An adaptation that could have been better
Arpeggio of Blue Steel is an adaptation of the manga of the same name that eventually diverts from the original plot in order to conclude the series in a single season. However, the plot up until the half-way point is fairly true to the source material. This show is probably best classified as a sci-fi magical girl genre, though the "magic" here is always technology such as processing speeds, ...

Simply AMAZING!!! Hoping for a 2nd season!
There a a lot of things to say about how incredible this anime is. So where to begin? The story in itself is amazing with presenting a unique world setup facing an unknown enemy. What I found extremely entertaining was the Fog ships developing their own unique personalities. Many cases created interactions that were intensely emotional to frickin' hilarious! Each ship's mental image is well ...

A show that will definitely take you by surprise
What looked like a moeservice show with an impossible concept accomplished way more than I expected. A show completely aware of the humor they could have didn't fail to also bring intense emotion, action, and development. And for once, I can say I have finally had closure with an anime ending (It's been awhile).

    pretty and almost interesting
This show literally goes no where, provides no answers, and delivers on nothing but naval-scifi-hot girls fanservice. It's certainly not bad, and were it not for the fact that it literally accomplishes nothing but booms, boobs, plot conveniences, and the occasional interesting scene it would have had another star easily.

The best things about this show are that it kept the fan service to a ...
