Ghost in the shell meets WWII warships
Excellent anime! for the scifi buff, mecha and/or gundam fan. It's something like a combination of ghost in the shell, WWII warships and gundam00. The anime shortens and changes the character development bits or non-combat parts of the plot based on the manga. But other than that is a great anime to watch.

    Great premise, unusual animation
    This is a tough one.
I watched this episode, because I thought that the naval battles, and high-tech would make for some good action scenes, and the Military/Political story is something I'd be very interested in.
But the animation lets it down, in my opinion. I can appreciate that the crispness, and consistency of it would appeal to some people, but to me, the end result is characters who ...

  • Thoughtful Naval battles
A lot like "Strike Witches" enemy, the Neuroi, AofBS foes the "Fog" use enhanced WWII navy power. All the Imperial Japanese Navy ships, sunk during WWII, are re-equipped with inexhaustible weapons and power, given a sentient control system that takes on the forms of cute girls, and almost conquers the world. In between battles, our girl computers begin to question their existence. Given the ...

  • Where is Season Two?!?!
Okay, so this show was one that sounded more intense than it really was. The MC had a typical story of carrying the torch, but having his own little twist yada yada yada, BUT 401 and the crew have a unique thing going on. The mental models learn that there is no such thing as perfection, some make their own choices, and Takao makes for the perfect eye candy. This show as a brilliant blend of ...

  • Good Story, Doesn't Go Anywhere
As much as I wanted to love this series for it's creativity and variation on the KanColle theme, I can't. Animation style is excellent and the characters are interesting (if a bit flat). The combat sequences are fun and exciting, and there was at least one sequence where I was sitting on the edge of my seat...

But this is a story for people who like naval combat and want an excuse to see ...

  • Wow, not what I was expepcting
But amazing anime. I was expecting some silly show with nothing but cute girls and explosions. It has that, but a damn good story and character development as well. I'm not sure what else to say, if you are reading the comments you should be interested enough to give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

  • Amazing random find. WATCH!
I had never heard of this anime before and just happened to find it while search "ar" on crunchyroll. Wow...what a find!

So the story starts off with something like a post-apocalyptic setting where boats basically have super powers and decide to fight humans over the control of the oceans. Then the MC meets a boat girl who has been ordered to obey him...then there's kind of a boat ...

  • Exceptional endpieces with a muddy middle
As a very casual anime fan, I often have a hard time finishing a series, even one as short as Arpeggio. The series started very strong and pulled me in quickly with impressive animation and a relatively unique premise. The middle of the series, particularly the episodes centered on the Iwoto base, very nearly lost me as the tone of the show took a dramatic turn toward comedy with a weird dash of ...

  • Love this series, good characters, funny, Battleships and Submarines. Whats not to like, right?
Well, they made a good one here didn't they Second series please, and a UK dub DVD would be nice and would send me straight to the shops to buy it to put on my shelves. I found the characters entertaining and individual, but who doesn't like a good battleship fight? No one? Okay, then watch this.

  • This Story Deserves Much More
I'm not wild about how this show ended. Like the Claymore anime, the ending is quite different from where the manga was going. That might make it difficult to make more seasons. If this is all we're going to get, that's a shame, because this is such a great concept, and the manga goes far beyond the anime.

Nothing really gets resolved in this story. The characters, frankly, seem a bit shallow, ...
