    Amazing all around series
Going into this anime, I expected naval warfare to be the most excruciating/ boring show yet. Well... I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did the first episode successfully create a compelling story, each episode was better than the one before. Here are my main thoughts

Story: Naval warfare for the most part with intriguing side stories or character revelations on land. The anime clearly shows ...

Arpeggio of Blue Steel Makes war over the seas not boring as you think
    About the story

This anime is about 20 to 30 years into the future where the oceans and seas are impassable because of the ghost fleet that are terrorizing it which consist of pretty girls that controls there each is her own ship that are in a fleet that have access to unparallelled technology which consist of very gigantic guns, array of missiles, powerful laser turrets. and one of the ...

    Oh Mai Gawd Tak-tikz!
So there are a bunch of hyper advanced weapons systems (Fleet of Fog) that come straight from a WWII naval encyclopedia. These weapons systems are the ships themselves but have grown human bodies (Mental Models). One such weapons system (Iona, a submarine, I-401) is commanded by a human after sitting around dormant for years.

Animation let down, but story potential?
If I wanted to "know of" a good story I'd be reading books. The CG animation, in my opinion, detracts enough from this anime to warrant a 2/5 just by itself. Everything is stiff, movements are awkward, and connected objects seem...disjoint.

Other than that, the initial idea was pretty interesting. I guess it's another take on some kind of alien invasion, but in this case... there are naval ...

this is gem of a show.
I feel this show is another one that will be in my banks of favorites. I would buy this dvd if it comes out.
the characters is well drawn with depth to their personality. I feel like I want to get to know more about the characters.
the captain reminds me of captains on the star trek shows. he is very cunning and quick to think.
the battleships look very fierce and realistic till when they ...

Please don't let this turn into an harem anime
This anime so far seems to have lots of potential to be very good, dealing with themes of humanity vs AI, and possibly goals of the individual vs the goals of a group; along with all that, there's the interesting naval combat scenes, which are always fun... but even from the first few episodes, it's already apparent that the MM girls might be drawn to the protagonist, with Iona slowly developing ...

  • Epic battle scenes and explosions
This anime has really epic battle scenes and action in all the episodes so far and I personally like anime's with a post apocalypse settings and I also like the story line and all the characters so far introduced. Although I don't really like the animation you get used to it really fast.

  • Five Stars for the Fleet Admiral!
Now the harem is coming out of the Fog. Another Chihaya is before us, and this time its boy-captain Gunzou. His personality seems to be having an, uh, magnetic effect upon the alien ships that have smokin' moe mental models at the helm. The plot is straightforward: us vs. aliens who take advantage of our near-suicidal climate catastrophes to manifest themselves in the hull-forms of classic ...

    Best show of the season
Each "season" there are a number of new shows. Last season it was "Attack On Titan" which was the best. This season, it is Arpeggio of Blue Steel. Best show out of the batch right now. If you ever saw the Andromeda TV series, this is like that.

Ghost in the shell meets WWII warships
Excellent anime! for the scifi buff, mecha and/or gundam fan. It's something like a combination of ghost in the shell, WWII warships and gundam00. The anime shortens and changes the character development bits or non-combat parts of the plot based on the manga. But other than that is a great anime to watch.
