  • Maybe I missed something
I feel as if I was missing a focal plot throughout the anime. It had it's moments where I was interested but otherwise I was just waiting for it to get to the point. The moments of supernatural encounters and fights were drawn really well and showed a lot of emotion. Besides that I felt like the rest was filler? The bulk of the anime seemed to be unnatural conversations that repeated the same ...

  • Unique Art and Repetitive Story
Bakemongatari is incredibly repetitive. It seems that every three to four episodes the story starts over again. On top of that the art is different from typical anime art styles, in my opinion it's a bad different. To be honest though, the story is interesting, the only reason I rated it so low is because if the story keeps repeating it becomes less entertaining. Some people might like it, but ...

    A Brilliant Series!!
Bakemonogatari is one of those rare animes where everything falls into perfect alignment. The characters, word play, animation, and even the story is incredibly well executed. Not only that, but the anime can be considered as a beautiful experience on its own. Overall, it's unique experience that everyone should enjoy.

  • Absolutely Adore the Series as a Whole
I haven't seen all the seasons/series of monogatari yet, but I have seen all of Bakemonogatari. I discovered this little gem playing on a tv in a shop at a convention and immediately gobbled it up. I love the mixture of awkwardness, the quick succession of jokes, the air of Fantasy - so on and so forth. The Characters come of as simplistic at first, but really do have personalities that develop ...

    A truly standout series
*I would like to preface by saying that episodes 13-15 are not available for legal streaming. These are required viewing for the sequel series, and it's strange that they're not here. This review, while spoiler free, does factor in those episodes.*

Bakemonogatari is truly a special gem among the anime to come out within the past five years. Many veteran anime fans don't like the ...

  • Great Opener to a Can of EVERYTHING
When my friend and brother told me to dive into this series, I thought it was too late and it's so far along now that I just didn't think I could keep up nor catch up (it's the main reason I didn't bother to go check out One Piece after so long). But after getting a Crunchyroll account I figured, "meh, why not". So I halfheartedly dived into this and man, man...I'd dive in all over again (ok that ...

One of the greatest cult hits of the decade. *spoiler free*
    *spoiler free*
I first watched Bakemonogatari when it first came out, and have re-watched it roughly 5 times as of today. I will be addressing the main aspects of the show in the following review.

    Story: 5/5
The story follows Araragi Koyomi, 1/10th vampire and 9/10th's human; as he encounters multiple oddities (spirits and supernatural phenomenon). Araragi takes it upon himself to help anyone ...

  • Every art lover must experience Bakemonogatari. A personal Favorite.
Bakemonogatari is for people who do not enjoy watching the static. Bakemonogatari is a new and unique experience showing a world of color, motion and intrigue. Not only for the anime lover but somebody who adores art and visuals in general. This is a world you must explore.

Simply staggering. It has been quite some time since an anime has captured my interest this much. A wonderfully produced ...

Feels like a radio drama at times
On the upside, this show has some very detailed, unique characters, especially the female lead, Hitagi Senjougahara. The dialogues are witty and entertaining. The animation style and abstract backgrounds fit the plot well and add to the spooky atmosphere when needed. Some of the stories told are thought-provoking, as is the general theme behind the "apparitions" that drive the series' plot. It ...

As is, it is as it is, Monogatari, it is.
First and foremost though also latest and most recent, I find it funny how people do not get that the show is presented in exactly the way it is meant to be watched.
    Do not pause to read.
    Do not over-think.
    Do not under-think.
    Do not collect 2,000 yen.
    Just experience.

What one seems to remember most about the Monogatari series are its odd moments that obviously set it apart from ...
