The story starts out feeling like a gangster movie from the 80’s, and then suddenly you see supernatural things about the world like a cat girl and ghosts. It’s interesting to say the least since I never saw something like this before. It took me a while to get into the story because of how really out of control it was but I soon actually liked it. It’s got a very different story line which keeps my interest. There was a joke that did get annoying after a while with the black guy always calling his partner brother and the come back. It got old fast in the first episode.
The animation is rather interesting, using 3D with the cartoon-shader. It looks better then most shows like this but still has some problems to me. It just feels way to Miku Miku Dance to me. The textures are nice though when they do have them, not really over bumped. The world around them looks much better then the characters although the characters do look interesting. The camera shakes at odd times, making it feel a lot like a movie. It went a little odd when it went into the floating in the air fight.
The Music and most of the talking feels like the 80’s, which is good since it does help with the theme. I’m not always so found of it but it’s not really all that bad when it works well with the show itself and most of the time, it’s just set in the background. But I don’t understand the little tweeting sound that happens sometimes when they are fighting. The voices actually fit the characters rather well to me and I love that about it. I have to say I think that if it was in any other language other then English, it would lose something.

The voice acting was atrocious and the music was invasive. It is regrettable that the subtitled version is not available I imagine it to be much better than the dubed version.
The main character Cat was intriguing, I would enjoy seeing a continuation of this series if it were subtitled.

Positives:
The art is fantastic. Backgrounds are detailed, gritty as they should be. Character designs are gorgeous.
The characters could power an OVA or series. The story has references that could be expanded into all sorts of directions.
Fight scene choreography is great.
Negatives:
The character animation was done either with rotoscoping or something very similar. The characters have very over-animated mouths - the lips never meet unless the character is silent.
Voice acting is amatuerish at best. Stiff, and obviously script-read, like a first run-through.
Summary:
These characters cry out for a remake, or a new series. So much potential. However, the technical faults almost outweigh the positives - still glad I watched it.

What starts off seeming to be a weakly animated CGI 70's crime drama, turns into an all out anime cat-fight that Quinten Tarentino wishes he thought of!
I have to admit when I started watching, I wasn't expecting much. The voice acting was a little on the weak side, I suspect due to directing. But my patience paid off. The story combines the 70's crime drama with the anime elements of a cat-girl who can see, and converse with, the deceased. The dialogue is fairly well written, despite the acting, and I found myself enjoying the banter between the characters.
The story revolves around two hired thugs who find themselves in possession of a cassette tape, which, unbeknownst to them, is wanted by some very high profile criminal elements. Catblue, a friend of one of the thugs, agrees to meet with them for a profitable information exchange, and unwittingly gets drawn into the ensuing battle. Outnumbered and outgunned, and armed with only her guns, reflexes, wits, a prehensile tail, and a dead guy who goes by the name John Doe, she must help to keep these two thugs alive so she can get the information she needs. What follows is a stylized and highly enjoyable addition to the ever expanding family of anime.
Frankly, this show presents some concepts rarely, if ever, seen in anime. Thanks to it's CG style, very reminiscent of the re-imagined Appleseed films, it wild combat becomes more believable, and in some ways -dare I say it- original. It's fast paced, extremely well rendered, and has a soundtrack that any disco-bunny would dig groovin' to.
It's worth watching. Personally, I can't wait to see more!
