Decent, mild horror from the author of Fushigi Yuugi
This anime is classified as a horror by some, but it's a pretty mild one all told. There's no heavy gore- just the occasional burned up corpse and blood spray.

This is a shoujo anime so the main focus is split between Aya resolving the mystery behind Ceres and where her own heart lies while Ceres has her own ideas on the latter. This is an adaption of a manga, however, and as such, quite a few ...

    Great show, pretty dark...
Ayashi no Ceres is another series by the creator of Fushigi Yuugi/The Mysterious Play. Did you watch Fushigi Yuugi and think to yourself "Man, the dark parts of this show are so dark...I wish the entire show was just that!" Then Ayashi no Ceres is for you! Okay, it's not that bad...well...I mean, it's a great series. But it is that dark.

    A classic from Yuu Watase!
I absolutely loved all the works from this author and this is my next favorite after fushigi yuugi. This was a bit more dark than her usual stuff but the storyline is rich & amazing! I remember watching this as a kid (middle school; yea, kinda young but my friend's older sister supervised us lol) and feeling absolutely captivated by the show. I'm 21 now and seeing this reappear on crunchyroll ...

Perhaps the epitome of fantasy shoujo trash
I vaguely remembered watching a few episodes of this around when it came out, and when I saw it come up on Crunchy I decided to finish what I started. If you're into over-the-top shoujo fantasy drama, you may find this enjoyable. I found I was watching it more as a train wreck than a good series. (I spent a large chunk at the end just yelling at the TV because of plot holes and stupid decisions ...

    Celestial Harem? Very Watchable!
Sometimes old school is the best school, yes? Loving this anime, new to me in 2015. I like the old school animation - it has a certain elegance. And the story is engaging, with some humor to balance the pathos. The violence is integrated into the storyline and not gratuitous as many current animes are.

Make sure to watch the sub and not the dub, although if dub is your thing, this one's not ...

  • A Shortened Adaptation That Needed More Time.
Well to start off, I first came across this series in it's manga version in the early 2000s. Only now, for nostalgic reasons, did I look to see what the anime version turned out to be. The artwork is very nice but the animation itself seems a little slow, especially for the many action scenes that appear throughout. The sub is good on its part, but the English dub is very 80s with fake yelling and ...

  • i actually rate it 4.5 out of 10
okay this is the first series i binged on since joining the CR community & watcing anime again. for the rating 5 stars seems to small so i just count each star as 2 so that an anime can receive a total of 10 stars but thats just me.
moving on to the anime it was a pretty good series but not my favorite. i ended up watching the first episode bc i pushed the 'random dice' on the top and i gave me ...
