If you're just looking for a solid and small action snack with fun characters go ahead. Just don't expect much else.
With the obvious big shot of its season being No Game No Life a lot of otherwise also decent and sometimes even better shows got pushed in the background while I think some of those deserved a bit more attention. One of these titles would be Hitsugi no Chaika (Chaika, the Coffin Princess) by Bones.

Just like many other titles every season Hitsugi no Chaika falls under the category of ...

Your typical sword and sorcery adventure.... or is it?
After one episode of Chaika, you might say,"oh, so that's one of those stories."
Ok, you might have seen these kinds of stories before, maybe in a western novel, maybe in an anime made in the 90's, but no, you have not seen any anime like it THIS DECADE, the reason being during recent years, classic sword and sorcery anime pretty much went extinct.
Seeing just how few traditional sword and ...

    Danger, comedy, and teamwork.
Based on the first episode, it's a bit darker than I was expecting (which is a good thing), with a nice balance between danger and comedy. The main character seems rather weak, but powerful when given enough time to ready herself during the battle. This allows for lots of teamwork, and the feeling of danger waiting for her to power up is rather fun. I found it amusing that they had to drag her ...

  • Worthy Anime to watch!
Great anime, worth watching! The art style is well drawn and detail oriented. The biggest set-back for me was some of the conversations seem boring and dry. The battle makes up for it though. I felt there should have been more to it, perhaps season 3!?

Chaika .... watched it all in one go .... but left with bad taste at the end

Soooo ... nice development ... quite ok characters .... made me watch it (both seasons) in one go but the ending is really abrupt and anticlimactic it made me regret wasting my time .... yes to me it was that bad of an ending

but if you skip the last episode and just watch all the other ep you will be quite happy ...

Someone hand that girl a dictionary!
Oh Chaika, will you ever learn to speak like a person?
This is your typical fantasy fair, magic sorcery, a quest to collect relics. There is some twists and turns so it isn't that bad. I found Chaika to be slightly annoying with her speech pattern. I keep wanting to slap her with a dictionary over and over again. Her two partners make up for her somewhat, they are somewhat interesting, the ...

One of the best action adventure series in a long while.
At first Hitsugi no Chaika seems like the aftermath or sequel of an old RPG. An evil overlord who has finally been defeated by a group of heroes, bringing peace to the world. Taking place 5 years after the death of the "Taboo Emperor" Arthur Gaz we follow the journey of a group who, for one reason or another, isn't too fond of the way things have turned out.
This group, made up of the ...

    A safe, but enjoyable, pick
Chaika, the Coffin Princess has the look and feel of the fantasy adventure series of a decade or so ago, and it strives to be one. Swords, sorcery, fantasy creatures, and a quest to collect some magical MacGuffins, Chaika hits all bullet points. Even the animation, with its round faces, contrasting colors, and rounder lines, evokes the look of slightly older styles. I think for this reason many ...

  • Generic While Interestig
This isn't a show where a single word carries much weight but the message it delivers over all is interesting and well exemplified. The animation is fairly top notch and difficult to see many blatant errors with. The lore of the series is well decorated and provides for an interesting journey. The characters throughout the story under go some change but it is very minimal other than Chaika and ...
