  • Exploding unicorn. 5/5
In the mood for a fantasy anime with a tad bit of moe, lots of action, and a good bit of blood? Then this is my top recommendation. The story and setting feels very much like a fantasy RPG, so if you are into that kind of setting, then you are in for a real treat. Even if you aren't, you should still check it out if you want to watch a good action series. The choreography is fantastic and every ...

  • Enjoyed this one, okay story, good production value
Not bad. Great minor detailwork. Appreciably plebian garb for a number of the characters. Storywise, it's fun enough, and the action scenes are pretty well-animated. The architecture and backdrops, too, are well designed.

Also appreciated are the down-to-earth (closer-to-earth?) fighting abilities of the characters. No one is overpowered who isn't so by plot, and combat is mostly human.

  • The best fantasy series I've seen in ages
I can best sum up Chaika in the following way: it's like watching someone play a fantasy RPG in real time with extra dialogue. The plot and setting aren't overly special, but everything in the series is done really well. Chaika herself is adorable and she helps elevate the show.

Season 2 was kind of a letdown and the ending was rushed, but I'm totally glad I watched the series and would ...

  • Interesting, characters that leave you wanting more~
This series begins quite quickly, making it easy to get lost, however if you stick trough it, it will clear up, and an amazing series awaits. The romance in this show is present, but its subtle, and for lack of a better word, cute. The action is fast paced, and well drawn, and the plot, while not unpredictable, is pleasant and fun. All in all, its a must watch ^^

  • Not your typical anime
Chaika was a nice watch. Very interesting. Never a dull moment. It was about magic and how it affects someone depending on the motives for using it. I would not mind watching another season.

Great story line, wonderful illustrations, excellent voice actors, nice soundtracks. Thank you - til next season.

    Considered Good Anime
Great anime, worth watching! The art style is well drawn and detail oriented. The most unfortunate part of this series is the conversations between non-main characters are boring and dry. The battle makes up for it though. I felt there should have been more to it, perhaps season 3.

Chaika .... watched it all in one go .... but left with bad taste at the end

Soooo ... nice development ... quite ok characters .... made me watch it (both seasons) in one go but the ending is really abrupt and anticlimactic it made me regret wasting my time .... yes to me it was that bad of an ending

but if you skip the last episode and just watch all the other ep you will be quite happy ...

Someone hand that girl a dictionary!
Oh Chaika, will you ever learn to speak like a person?
This is your typical fantasy fair, magic sorcery, a quest to collect relics. There is some twists and turns so it isn't that bad. I found Chaika to be slightly annoying with her speech pattern. I keep wanting to slap her with a dictionary over and over again. Her two partners make up for her somewhat, they are somewhat interesting, the ...

One of the best action adventure series in a long while.
At first Hitsugi no Chaika seems like the aftermath or sequel of an old RPG. An evil overlord who has finally been defeated by a group of heroes, bringing peace to the world. Taking place 5 years after the death of the "Taboo Emperor" Arthur Gaz we follow the journey of a group who, for one reason or another, isn't too fond of the way things have turned out.
This group, made up of the ...

    A safe, but enjoyable, pick
Chaika, the Coffin Princess has the look and feel of the fantasy adventure series of a decade or so ago, and it strives to be one. Swords, sorcery, fantasy creatures, and a quest to collect some magical MacGuffins, Chaika hits all bullet points. Even the animation, with its round faces, contrasting colors, and rounder lines, evokes the look of slightly older styles. I think for this reason many ...
