An interesting concept wrongfully thrown in the garbage.
When first marketed for the upcoming Fall 2016 season, I was looking forward to this one. Seemingly amazing art and animation, a hilarious world setup and concept, and somewhat unique character designs.

However, 2 episodes in, it all falls apart in practice. The classroom is completely glossed over in fantasy battles seemingly taking place in a rocky crater. There's no character development, ...

Its pitch is better than its execution
So, in most anime the parts involving the "do not get caught while test", is my favorite (eg soul eater, naruto, etc...) which is why I got excited for this anime. However, those shows are grounded in there way where you know how they are cheating and where their limits are, such as we know ninjas in naruto will use their chakra and soul eater cheating episode is very much character driven and ...

    NOT FOR ANIME FANS!!
To begin, this is the first review I ever post for an anime, and I consider myself to have impeccable taste when it comes to anime choices, so bear with me for a couple minutes.

This anime is not for fans of anime. I know that sounds weird, but it's just the way it is. The plot is sloppy, there is no real character development, and while the concept in itself was good, what many people call the ...

    Failing Its Premises
I want to give 2.5 stars but can't.

In my opinion, the first episode is good. It transforms commonly used objects into something imaginative and depicts part of the modern Chinese culture in a funny but sad way. The first episode also gives a premise that would have brought out a painful journey to achieve a goal.

However, the rest of the show are dull. It follows a simple and repeated ...

Taking exams and need to blow off steam.
Only watched the first episode of this one. The title “Cheating Craft” sounded interesting, attracted me. This is pure over the top parody of a present obsession with acing the exams to get the best jobs for life in Japan. I am not sure how genuine this phenomenon is in Japan. Do the students with best grades gain exclusive access to the best career positions?

I do agree that our contemporary ...

Trying so hard to be different.
I get what they're going for. It's supposed to be a parody of every 'academy' anime out there, but instead of making an academy for a specific profession that students battle one another for, this instead has the curriculum itself be this insurmountable challenge that students clash over. Yes, yes, very clever.
    Except... it's really not.
The execution is off, and maybe it's just the bitter cynic ...

    It started off okay enough
Cheating Craft started off okay enough with at least a different premise than most others but then it began to collapse in on itself when the overall plot just got confusing and then there was one episode (I don't remember which one) which seemed to be the writer's artistic Haiku moment (too stupid to describe) and now I'm at episode 9 or 10 and I just can't seem to click on the next episode to ...

    Gloriously Overdramatic
For anyone with a hard and demanding school workload like mine, this show is just what you need. It's overly dramatic, unrealistic, doesn't have a storyline that makes sense, and I absolutely love it. It's satirical (whether intentional or unintentional) and it's gives me the chance to laugh at something I face in the real world. Plus, this show doesn't make me think, which is nice when my brain ...

What you need is something ridiculous.. admit it.
I'm not going to pretend I am some professional anime reviewer. I don't agree with the overall rating of this show (as of the third episode,) but I will just do my part and share my own opinion. This show is made up of 12 minute episodes. That threw me off a bit- I'm certainly used to episodes having more material.
These episodes make me smile. That's not so easy to do. If you go into this show ...

    What did I just watch?
This is an episode 1 review:
Firstly, this is a half-episode length show. It's an extremely over the top anime about an academic test to determine your entire future, with a poorly cobbled together premise that the test has become a battlefield, with partnered teams of cheaters and smart people, who pair off and do battle. It's drawn fairly well, and it's amusing in it's own way. I'm just not ...
